Shimano SH-XC703 Butterfly MTB shoes are designed for cross-country races and intense off-road training. Their carbon-reinforced midsole, dual BOA closure, and ULTREAD XC rubber outsole enhance power transfer on the pedal and provide traction on sections where you dismount the bike.

This version with standard molds offers a close fit with its upper structure that surrounds the foot. The Butterfly color option complements the race-focused equipment with a distinctive look.

Regional tightness adjustment with dual BOA L6Z

Each shoe features two compact BOA L6Z dials that allow adjusting tightness in different areas of the foot. The low-profile cross-lacing system aims for a balanced grip on the forefoot.

Carbon-reinforced, low-profile bottom bracket

The rigid midsole supports the foot by limiting flex under pedal pressure. The low sole height contributes to a balanced foot position. Its stiffness rating on the Shimano scale is 9.

Terrain Grip with ULTREAD XC

The rubber compound and tread pattern support grip when getting off the bike and walking. Additional grip can be provided according to ground conditions by using compatible sole studs.

Surround Wrapping Upper Structure

The design reduces the amount of overlapping material and wraps around the foot. The structure integrates with the midsole, helping keep the foot stable while pedaling.

XC703 is used with two-bolt SPD cleat attachments. Three-bolt SPD-SL road cleats do not attach directly to the base. A cleat is the connecting piece that locks the shoe to the pedal.

The chosen size must fit both the shoe and the pedal system. Having a rubber outsole does not place this model in the same usage category as platforms without cleats designed for pedal shoes.

Size and fit selection

Compare your foot length with the Shimano size chart and try the shoe on with your cycling socks. Your toes should not be cramped, and your heel should not move excessively.

This product is not Wide, it has a standard fit. If the arch area feels tight despite the appropriate length, consider the wide fit option. BOA adjustment does not compensate for the wrong size or fit choice.
